Kila Ka'aihue Update

Kila Ka'aihue, Royals
Tribute to 1993 Leaf
by Goose Joak

As of today, Kila is hitting .342 for Omaha.  He sports an on base percentage that would make Barry Bonds do a double take (.507).  And he's hitting for power -- 1 HR every 15 AB.

Other credentials include:
30 runs and 33 rbi...in just 34 games
More walks than strikeouts (38:26)
He has grounded into 0 double plays!

As much as we love him in Omaha, please do the right thing KC.  Well, at least wait until they have the jersey auction day.  After that, you banish him at your own peril.

I particularly like this picture of him.  I'll have to find a way to work it into a card soon.

Also, you can tell this picture is from the same at bat.  Probably the same swing.  Love it.  It's a Goose Joak Original from last year.

  1. Kila's awesome. I think KC underuses him when he's up in the majors and he can't get into the flow of the games because of it and it ruins his ability to just relax and play.

They should trade him if they're not going to use him!

  2. As much as I want Kila to be getting regular at bats for the Royals, I think the problem is where to put him? We've got Guillen sucking up the DH spot, and it's not like you can take Butler off first base. While not the best first baseman in the Majors, his bat is smoking. If *I* was to propose a solution, I'd look into trading Guillen away, (I'm sure nobody wants to take his salary though), put Kila in at DH, and leave Butler at 1B. Just my 2 cents.

  3. Completely agreed on all accounts you guys! Although I'd selfishly like to see him in Omaha, over, say, a Yankees uniform :)
