Tribute to 2009 OPC - Face of the Franchise
If Allen & Ginter is my favorite base card of 2009, then this has to be my favorite subset of 2009. Inspired by a card at The Phillies Room and a suggestion from The Writer's Journey.
Kirby was an amazing player, and I had the opportunity to see him play while in Kansas City. Not sure about the stuff that came out at the end of his career (was it ever confirmed?), but for all I knew, he was always a stand up guy. That's how I remember him.
Maybe Kirby Puckett should have been the real subject for the Twins "Face of the Franchise" card. I think it would have been a more interesting insert if it included retired guys where appropriate.
