Jim Thome, Chicago White Sox

Probably going to join Edgar Martinez in the non-HOF, lonely hearts DH club. But that shouldn't be a knock on him. He's a phenomenal player, criminally underrated.
From memory, I think he's really had only one poor year, and that was due to injury (checking...yep, 2005).
From 1993 to 2008 he's had an OPS+ of 150. 150! Granted, using OPS+ as your only metric will overrate players who are big, slow baserunners, but being 50% better than the league average for 16 seasons has to count for something.
Another strange thing is that Thome made his debut at age 20. Not a lot of career DH types come to mind like that. Billy Butler maybe, and I'm sure Frank Thomas as well. But other than that, I'd venture to say it's kind of rare.

Shoot, who was "Little Hurt" for the White Sox back in the day? That's who this guy reminds me of on this card. Argh, little hurt...who was that again?
Oh wait, I might remember! CRAIG GREBECK! Or Greg Craybeck! Or something like that. Yes, I'm sure his name sounded something like that.

Jermaine Dye, Chicago White Sox

JD! Had to throw one of my own into the mix.
When Jermaine gets that batting average up into the .270, .280, .290+ range he's a force to be reckoned with. He's had his down years, but he's had his explosive years as well. Seems like he's been around forever, but it's only been 13 seasons.

Wes Whisler has the name of a cult figure. Maybe that's just cause I'm nuts about Wes Welker and he is a cult figure to me.
