2009 Goose Joak Originals - Third Update!
More Goose Joak Originals are on the way! This project is really gaining steam. I owe a huge thank you to everyone who has been involved so far. We're barely getting started and already this has been a ton of fun.
A few things to look for, starting this week:
1. Original cards from collaborators!
It's been only a few days, and already I've received a number of originals from Jeffrey, Paul and JT. In a word -- PHENOMENAL! You guys are doing an awesome job. I can't wait to get these cards posted.
Look for these to start appearing in posts this week.
2. More collaborators!
Three more people have just expressed an interest in making cards. This is great news!
Cincinnati Reds - JT from The Writer's Journey
Oakland Athletics - tastelikedirt from tastelikedirt
I'm really excited to have both of you guys on board. JT has a great eye for these things and has done a number of excellent tribute cards of his own. Also, both these guys have a lot of great original baseball photographs. I'm really excited at the potential they can bring to the set.
One other collaborator is now on board as well -- Val, my wife! Her choice of players has yet to be determined. However, she's already put together a Scott Rolen card, appearing here soon.
So now we've got a total of ten collaborators. How fantastic is that? There may also be another collaborator in the works -- but I'll keep that under wraps for now :)
Here's an updated list of all the other card collaborators not mentioned above:
New York Mets - Paul from Paul's Random Stuff
Tampa Bay Rays - Dave from Fielder's Choice
Pittsburgh Pirates - Jeffrey from Card Junkie
Chicago White Sox - White Sox Cards
Toronto Blue Jays - Canucklehead
Milwaukee Brewers - Canucklehead
Looking for a team:
Chris D'Orso
I've also got offers to help from Night Owl and Zack from Autographed Cards.
3. Index of cards by team
I'll also be putting together some handy links so that it's easy to navigate any of the existing cards. Again, look for these sometime this week.
4. Subset cards
Lots of great ideas floating around about subset cards! Very excited to see where this develops.
That does it for updates for the time being. Look for lots of new cards this week!

i would like to help but have absoulutely no experience or skill with any of the paint programs. You guys are a wonderful job, I can't wait to see some cards of the lowly Padres.
ReplyDeleteI just looked through all of my personal photos, and here are the templates that I need- KC, Boston, Dodgers, Cincy, AZ, and St.Louis.
ReplyDeleteI might be able to make one card each from each team.
Just email them to me.
Since I don't use photoshop, you may want to add the player's name to each card. I need David DeJesus, David Ortiz, Russel Martin, Joey Votto, Max Scherzer, and Albert Pujols.
ReplyDeleteI have photoshop. What is the font you use on the cards? Trying to keep things consistent here.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot!
Hey Dave,
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to let you know that I posted my first attempts on my blog. You're more than welcome to post them on your blog as well! Hope you like them!
For the fonts -- I used white font, Franklin Gothic Demi Cond, size 44 for the player names (Proper Noun Capitalization). I used white font, Arial, size 12 for the team names (ALL CAPITALIZED). You can try and line them up with the existing layers. I attempted to center both of them on the card.
ReplyDeletez--I'll take a look tonight and see what templates I have ready! I'll send over whatever is ready to go. Very excited to see what you've got in mind!
Canuckle -- AWESOME, man, awesome. Some flat out awesome photography. As I said on your blog, that Fielder card makes you feel like you're going into orbit along with the baseball. Can't wait to cross post 'em here too! People have got to see what an awesome job you did.
Also, Rod, thanks! For some reason I'm really excited to do a card of Will Venable. I just really like that guy's name.
ReplyDeleteHey z, I don't think I have your email address...
